Sewing 101: Intro Tailoring
Learn machine sewing techniques for altering your clothing! We'll do samples of a few types of alterations then have open project time to work on a project or two

About:
The first two hours of class will cover common alterations for your clothing by showing demos & doing practice samples, then bring a project or two for the last hour to work on with your new skills! Perfect for beginners or those wanting a refresher
Alterations we'll cover:
Pants:
-Bringing in a waistband (two ways!)
-Bringing in pants width (tapering legs and hips)
Shirts:
-Bringing in side seams
-Bringing in sleeves
-Hemming sleeves with (advanced) and without a cuff
-Adding darts for shaping
All garments:
-Creative ways to increase garment size & change garment shape
-Hemming
-Bonus: if we have time, we'll learn how to use handstitching to make a blind hem

Space:
Summit Selvage is located on the corner of 12th Ave and Pike St in Capitol Hill, Seattle. The entrance door will be propped open on the 12th Ave side. The space is down the stairs and the last door on your left. The basement is shared with dance studios, and has unisex bathrooms on the third floor. Parking is a big challenge, but luckily we're 1 block from the 2, 12, and 11 bus stops, as well as .5 miles from the lightrail station.
