About the Event

Hi there! This class will take place on June 25th from 1pm-5pm.

This class is an open-ended mending class where Chris will be able to guide and assist you in repairing your garments. Feel free to arrive anywhere from 1pm-4pm, depending on your schedule and your project! I’ll be at the studio to help you out, chit chat, show you a new thing or two, etc!

Covid:

Masks are required to attend this class. Please let Chris know in advance (hopefully at least 24 hours before) if you are feeling under the weather and cannot attend!

Details:

This workshop is for anyone who wants to learn how to sew or practice (no experience needed!)! Chris will be able to show you how to operate a sewing machine to repair your clothing/project, or add some fun n flair to a piece. I also don’t mind helping you with trickier parts of a project if you feel comfortable with it!

As far as materials go, the studio has 5 sewing machines available, and I will be bringing my personal machine as well! There are lots of different materials in the studio for general use as well. We have lots of colors of thread and a hefty hoard of buttons.

Instructor:

Chris Rogers~ they/them and he/him pronouns

I’ve been sewing for half my life, and these classes are a way for me to seek community where we live through my special interest.

I’m autistic, and have trouble saying the correct words sometimes. In my “teacher” mode, I am very patient and calm. I may start being a lil goofy by the end of the day due to social interactions exhausting my social battery. <3

Payment:

This class is free to LGBTQIA+ members of the Seattle community. If you’d like to make a donation, feel free to send a donation to @trinketsorcerer via Venmo.

Space:

Summit Selvage is located on the corner of 12th Ave and Pike St in Capitol Hill, Seattle. The entrance door will be propped open on the 12th Ave side. The space is down the stairs and the last door on your left. The basement is shared with dance studios, and has unisex bathrooms on the third floor. Parking is a big challenge, but luckily we're 1 block from the 2, 12, and 11 bus stops, as well as .5 miles from the lightrail station.

Accessibility:

This space is not wheelchair accessible due to the amount of stairs and studio location. If you are unable to access the space, please let me know and I would be more than happy to host a private sewing lesson in your space (masked of course).
