Learn to Sew: T Shirts!

This 2-part class is for anyone who wants to learn how to sew or practice (no experience needed!)! There will be 2 sessions needed to finish the tees, 9/28 & 10/5

Things you'll learn/practice:

-Understanding a sewing pattern (we'll be using Mood Fabrics The Brando Tee)

-Cutting out fabric

-Using a sewing machine (or serger!) to do basic seams

-Using a serger to finish seams

-Finishing stretch hems with a sewing machine, serger, or coverstitch machine

-Adjusting a garment to fit you perfectly

Things you'll need/are provided:

I'll have some upcycled fabrics for you to chose from at the studio in neutrals and prints! If you'd prefer to chose your own fabric, you'll need 1-2 yards (this includes a little extra length just to be safe)

Suggested fabrics: Jersey knits

Seattle Recreative and thrift stores are great places to find textiles for reuse. This would be a great project for a fun 70's knit!

Space:

Summit Selvage is located on the corner of 12th Ave and Pike St in Capitol Hill, Seattle. The entrance door will be propped open on the 12th Ave side. The space is down the stairs and the last door on your left. The basement is shared with dance studios, and has unisex bathrooms on the third floor. Parking is a big challenge, but luckily we're 1 block from the 2, 12, and 11 bus stops, as well as .5 miles from the lightrail station.
